NASHVILLE in LA! The December Writing Camp is a special one, with our guest #1 hit and Grammy-nominated songwriter Odie Blackmon. He is doing A&R for a big record on Thirty Tigers with an iconic artist, and on Sunday 12/8/24, 12-4pm we are running a camp both in-person at historic Enterprise Recording Studios in Burbank and over zoom for non-LA people with the chance to write for that project and get feedback and direction.
BONUS: Writing Camp participants get a Nashville primer on Saturday 12/7, 2pm PT / 4pm CT -- a hit song deconstruction live over zoom with #1 Country Writer Rick Beresford. Rick will deconstruct a couple of Gary Allan hits AND take a swing at a direction he might go. Tune in live to be able to ask questions or receive the archive over the weekend.

How the day will go:
- Writing Camp participants will fill out a brief survey in advance so we can set up strong, complementary collaborative teams
- participants will receive 5+ valuable pre-recorded materials as both a Sync 101 primer and helpful prep
- Camp will begin with our Music Supervisor Guest offering some general guidance and advice, and then an explanation of the briefs themselves for each group. Each group will have a chance to ask questions about the brief (style, approach, key words, references, etc)
- groups will break out into separate spaces to write. Guitarists bring your guitars; keyboardists, we'll have you covered

the Supervisor(s) will make the rounds to offer feedback and input and guidance on each song so groups can course-correct where needed or proceed with confidence toward the target
- we'll group up at the end for each group to present the current draft of the song for all of us to appreciate
- each group will have the real-world deadline to submit
- You will additionally be able to submit a song of your own, outside of the day's co-write

Each class video involves a mix of presentation, demonstration, lecture, question and answer, interactive and take-home assignments, regular feedback, and a series of assignments designed to help each class member build and organize their catalog and prepare it and themselves for improved chances of placing songs. There will be actual pitching opportunities with direct feedback from music supervisors, placement houses, and publishers.
