Writing Commercial Hit Lyrics, with Platinum-Writer Mark Winkler - ADVANCED SECTION Has Begun; Next Full Regular Section Starts Wednesday 9/30 7p PST

FOR GRADUATES OF MARK WINKLER'S Writing Commercial Hit Lyrics class, graduates of Mark's UCLA Extension classes, as well as more experienced lyricists and songwriters. Class offered Online, fully interactive over Zoom, and on-demand.

Mark Winkler has been teaching a much-respected lyric writing class at UCLA Extension for nearly a decade and at The Songwriting School for 6 years. In his popular introductory commercial lyrics class, he uses a series of essential principles, his "Top Ten Tips for Successful Commercial Lyrics," has a series of actionable exercises, and holds students accountable for their work in an inspiring, informative, supportive, positive class setting both IN and out of class.

For the first time we are offering this advanced, next-level class, which builds on the concepts of Mark's introductory class and goes much deeper into real-world applications, song analysis, solo- and co-writing assignments, extensive re-writing of drafts, sophisticated rhythm/rhyme study, rewriting older songs to strike a timely/timeless balance, and so much more.

The title of this class does not limit lyric writing to any genre. "Pop" in this sense means "commercial"-- accessible, direct, powerful and therefore capable of commercial success, in any genre.
