THE WRITERS CLUB - Weekly Writing Class for Ages 12-15, In-Person & Zoom, Wednesdays 4:45-6:15pm PT Starting 10/23

Wednesdays starting 10/23/24 from 4:45-6:15pm PT, writers ages 12-15 will gather to develop skills and love for writing as a means for noticing, documenting, questioning, understanding, and responding to ourselves and the world around us.

In this eight-week class, both over zoom and in-person at The Songwriting School’s new Burbank location at historic Enterprise Recording Studios, we will examine, explore, and experiment with various styles and settings of writing. Each interactive class will involve inspiring and affirming lessons, exercises, prompts, and the chance to share work--all in the service of aiming curiosity and wonder with attention, intention, and a growing sense of personal style, in writing.

We will conclude the program on December 18th, a special final "sharecase" for members to share their work with the group and with family and friends who would like to attend.

The Writers Club will explore many different types of writing in the service of helping each member develop a confidence in their voice. Writing will  including and not be limited to...

Words offer treasures. We can shape them into questions—tools that dig. We can fashion them like answers—tools that shine a light. Words give voice to what, before, we could only feel. They can come to say exactly what we mean, and more.

We arrange words into stories, poems, songs, letters, speeches, jokes, scripts—the structures and shapes that best carry their precious contents.

We take the time and the care and the heart and the art to write because saying something is for that moment, while writing something is for all the moments to come.

Writers notice details like scientists, get them down like artists, and share them like the kindest, most thoughtful, bravest friends.

We are Writers. And when we gather to grow and learn and create, we are The Writers Club.

About the Instructor
Rob Seals is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work has appeared in feature and independent films, on ABC, CBS, ABC Family, E!, Bravo, MTV, VH-1, Oxygen, Fox, The CW, Apple +, and an underpaying streaming service near you. He holds an M.F.A. in poetry and is the Co-Founder of The Songwriting School of Los Angeles.

Before his work with The Songwriting School, he was a decorated teacher of writing and literature and two-time champion Head Girls' Track Coach at the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. He conducted visiting Artist in Residence works at colleges, high schools, and elementary schools all across the country for more than a decade before putting his talents to inspire, instruct, and empower under one roof at The Songwriting School in 2009.

As the creator and instructor of The Roots songwriting classes at The Songwriting School, he has helped people write their first songs and helped Grammy-Winning artists write their own songs. He has led graduates to make their first records or sign publishing deals, and he has helped creatives with full-time careers outside of music find meaning and value in musical self-expression. Multiple Grammy-nominated songwriters have taken The Roots--not to learn how to write songs of course, but to go deeper toward writing more personal, meaningful songs that matter.

Writer, producer, teacher, coach: Rob Seals is both a working creative and an amplifier of individuals and their unique creativity.
