LEARN MORE ABOUT THE CLASS OR ENROLL HERE:

Class Format: Class meets in-person Wednesday nights 7:30-10pm for 8 wks total, with no class the W before Thanksgiving. Class involves a mix of lecture, presentation, discuss, QnA, weekly homework assignments, and the chance to get feedback on your work. The class involves all aspects of commercial Lyric writing: point of view, voice, style, rhythm and rhyme, writing to melody, song structure, various styles and strategies, and so much more.

Course Eligibility:  Open to lyricists and songwriters of all abilities.  You are likely to get the most out of the class if you have already taken THE ROOTS, our foundational course for song study, but this is not a requirement.

Format for Online Class: Class will take place on-campus and be broadcast in real-time for class members. If you want in-class feedback on your homework, there will be submission guides and weekly deadlines. There will be opportunity for feedback outside of class as well.  The archive of each week's class will be available "on-demand" 24-hrs after the real-time class so that students in any time zone or with any set of commitments might still participate in the class weekly. Previous online class members have been here in LA with impossible commutes, in Canada, the UK, South Africa, Australia, and elsewhere. Welcome to this vibrant creative community, wherever you are.

Class Schedule Notes: There will be no class on Halloween night (M 10/31), and there are no classes at The Songwriting School the week of the American Thanksgiving (M 11/21).
