Finnish-born and LA-based singer/songwriter RUUT spent a couple of winter afternoons at The Sound Boutique Studios, first co-writing with Rob Seals, playing piano on a Seals production, and then delivering a breath-taking, one-take performance of her song "A Year in California" for the New York Songwriters Circle Compilation CD. Rob Seals recorded and mixed the track, with Ruut at the piano.
After wrapping her role in Iron Man 2 she turned her attention back to her first love: writing and singing at the piano. She completed pre-production for The Steinway Sessions on the Steinway B at The Sound Boutique Studios and then recorded with renowned engineer Frank Wolf at the David Andersen Pianos Atelier, where many of the songs had been written. After making a name for herself as a pop artist, this project gave Ruut the chance to showcase the unadorned, honest power of her writing, singing, and playing.
"We were honored to have her record and prepare here," Seals notes. "As a fan, I am thrilled to hear an unadorned record by this kind of artist, just that voice, those songs, and the piano. She is that good."

Ruut - A Pop Star on the Indie Track
Widely appreciated Finnish singer/songwriter, Ruut, has made it her life's goal to share her music worldwide, one original song at a time. Since moving to the States from her native Finland, in addition to touring extensively, Ruut has released a self-titled EP independently, a full-length album in Scandinavia and Southeast Asia through major label distribution, and her songwriting has been validated two years in a row in New York's established Songwriters' Circle competition.
In 2008, Ruut's song was added to A Fashionable Life's first charitable music compilation that features other renown songwriters, such as Mieka Pauley and Anne McCue. For such a young woman, Ruut's work as a musician displays an impressive list of collaborations, with industry veterans such as Jeff Trott (Sheryl Crowe), Rob Hoffman (Christina Aguilera), and the Matrix (Avril Lavigne). Ruut's debut international full-length release, Music of the City, was released in Finland in October 2008. She also released two music videos in 2008, through Kiterunner Records and Candor Records.
A songwriter with the voice of a young pop star, yet the lyrical depth of an old soul, Ruut's path to becoming one of music's most shining stars has just begun. In 2009, she will release a long-awaited full-length album, called "Poetic Disco", complete with a tour and music videos. Her versatility is evident, as she is able to silence an audience with her heart-felt piano ballads, while producing a fresh album in an entirely different genre. Ruut is an artist to watch for the long run.
