Singer/songwriter Melinda Ortner wasn't playing drafts of her songs in The Songwriter's Workshop, the Wednesday night advanced class at The Songwriting School of Los Angeles this fall.  After winning the Time-Warner/MTV Steal the Spotlight Video Contest and appearing at and performing before the VMAs in New York, she spent the fall playing those songs throughout the UK while on tour.
